If you would like to find out more about judo why not try browsing through some of the following sites.
Walderslade Judo Club was opened in January 1996, with just a handful of members and a second-hand mat area badly in need of replacing. Almost from the beginning, work began on raising funds to replace the existing mats and in February 1999 the club took possession of a brand new contest area.
Attendance steadily grew and soon members began to take an active part in local and national competitions. Many club members have now won medals at national and even international events.
In 1998 Walderslade Judo Club was one of only three Medway based sports clubs to be awarded a prestigeous 'Sports Club Award' by Medway Council and in 1999 and 2001 club members won National Player of the Year awards.
Walderslade Judo Club plays an active part in Medway Council's annual sports festivals 'Sport Medway' and has received much help from the Council's Sports Team over the years, for which we are very grateful. The Greenacre School is now a Specialist Sports College and we work closely with the Director of Sport to promote judo at the school.
We organise a number of events of our own each year, including free gradings for those under Yellow Belt, an annual individual championship, a team championships and try to organise at least one international trip each year, to either compete in a championship or train with foreign judoka. Each quarter all members also receive a free copy of our club bulletin 'The Judokwai'. A shortened website version of which can be viewed by following the link.
The first lesson at the club is always free to beginners and a shortened website version of the club's New Members Handbook can also be viewed by following the link.
